Welcome to the first instalment of the Alpha Trading Group's blog in which we will address a range of hot topics!
From finance, to wellbeing, all of course linking back to FOREX.
In our first edition we hear from the talisman behind the Alpha Trading Group, CEO and Founder, Sean Lennox.
CEO & Founder, Sean Lennox
In this article, Head of Marketing and Digital Operations, Gareth Johnson, interviews Sean in what is an insight into his life and the life of a full time trader AND business owner.
Hi Sean, please introduce yourself …
My name is Sean Lennox, I am from the North East of England, to be more specific, Newcastle. I am the CEO and founder of Alpha Trading Group.
So, Alpha Trading Group, just what is it all about?
Alpha is all about bringing forex trading and investment into the 21st century and diminishing the dogma around forex trading.
Most would have you believe that you need to be highly educated and intelligent to be successful in the industry, I am proof that this is simply not true. Anyone with the right mindset and mentality can be a successful investor and forex trader.
A traders setup...
FOREX Trading, is the means through which one currency is changed into another and a profit is made from it. Just how did you get into that?
Like many, I stumbled across forex a few years ago when I was working my previous job which was in construction.
Also, like many, I was a victim to a forex scam, causing me to lose just shy of £5000 over a few weeks. This experience made me realise how harsh and unforgiving the industry could be.
£5000 is an awful lot of money to lose out on, so why is Alpha Trading Group different?
Firstly, having been stung, I know what that feels like and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Secondly, trading does not have to be this 'hoax', 'scam' industry many believe it to be.
I personally am passionate about changing the stigma surround my industry and my own business follows these passions too.
We develop communities in which new traders and experienced traders are as one, including our mentors and myself. We're very up font and supportive of each other and help in any way that we can.
We instruct and educate our students until we believe they are ready to be let out into the world of trading, and, once they're making active trades, the whole team is there to support and assist in any way we can.

It seems like you care about the industry and most importantly your pupils! Is that what inspired you to start your own business?
Starting my own business has always been a dream and lifelong ambition. However, I never thought in a million years it would be doing what I am doing today.
It started after I had quit my job and decided I wanted to trade full time. After quitting my job, I worked with a few forex companies offering my knowledge and expertise for free, just so I could be part of the community and be with like minded people.
After several months I began to see flaws in other people’s business models and started to see ways I could do it differently. This led me to branch out on my own and set up Alpha Trading Group.
My business card and car...
So, one thing led to another. That is often the way new businesses are formed and it's how they grow, which I guess is the exciting part. What's currently going on behind the scenes at Alpha?
We are always working on new services and improving what we already have. We are currently working on our Mentorship Programme 2.0, consisting of monthly video content for the students to view in their own time at their own pace.
We're also set to launch our very own trading software; this will give all of our students a much-needed edge in the market as it will plot the exact buying and selling points. We always try to be at the forefront with regards to the latest methods, practices and technology available to us as traders. Including our own trade alert service, of which will shall be launching in the coming months.
We are also in talks behind the behind the scenes with regards to set up a trading floor, right here in the North East of England, creating jobs and boosting our local economy!
Wow, so there's an awful lot going on right now for you. This is on top of what you already provide as a business. Could you give us an outline of what Alpha already offers?
At the moment, Alpha Trading Group offer a 1-1 Mentorship Programme. When a student signs up for the Mentorship Programme they will be added to a private student support group chat and an analysis broadcast channel. Each student will receive a 200+ page technical analysis booklet and a workbook. Each week a student will receive a 1-1 session with an Alpha mentor, during this time the mentor will cover the learning material which is provided in the workbook and the booklet. Students will also receive daily trading ideas and support from the two group chats.
And that's including your investment side of things at Alpha, in which you grow capital through a regulated trading service. So, how can someone get in touch or get on board? Either as a student or an investor?
Anyone who is interested can visit our website or message our Facebook or Instagram page directly with any queries they may have. We have several members of the team who deal with the potential students and investors.
Your Instagram is a vibrant place with lots of varying exciting content, I cannot recommend enough people checking it out!
So, what advice would you, Sean Lennox, give to traders that are looking to level up their game?
In my opinion, if you have been trading for a year or more, and you are not already at a consistent level, then you have probably plateaued. If your strategy isn’t working after a year, then I would advise you to find a new one.
What I normally find in this case, is that an ‘experienced’ trader just needs a few tweaks here and there to be at a consistent level. If you are a breakeven trader after one year, then you are closer to being at a consistent level than what you may think.
In this case, it is about fine tuning what you already have and ironing out some creases so you can achieve a higher level of trading.
Making Improvements to trading strategies
So your guys would be able to tweak a traders strategy or even introduce them to a new one?
Yes without a doubt, often it's small little tweaks, but these tweaks are highly specialised. We aren't interested in scamming anyone - only helping them improve.
I know a lot of the strategy behind trading is the mindset. I know you instruct healthy trading mindsets as part of your programme but do you have any advice on how to achieve this?
I am often found reading, learning new skills and ideologies and these three people come to mind; Bob Proctor, Jim Rohan and Robert T Kiyosaki.
They actually have nothing to do with forex trading, but they have played a big part in my life.
Bob Proctor’s approach to wellbeing has always fascinated me, he refers to Napoleon Hill’s book ‘Think and Grow Rich’ a lot.
The backbone of this book is positive thinking and manifestation, I have used these practices almost every day of my life. I do truly believe that you become what you think about.
I also like the approach Jim Rohan has towards the ‘marketplace’, he says that a man can become more valuable if acquires a better skill or more skills. Someone who is only good at one thing, isn’t as valuable in life as a man who is good at many things. This is something I live by, I love to learn new skills and I am always looking to grow as a person and become more valuable.
Robert Kiyosaki’s book ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ changed my perception on the way I think about money and how I want to obtain it in the future. To those of you who have not read this book, I highly recommend you do.
He talks about accumulating assets rather than liabilities and always keeping a positive cash flow within your household. This is what the rich do, that the poor and the middle class do not, this for me was a real game changer and eye opener.
Yes, in times like this it's important to remember the bigger picture and I think books like these really help to achieve that. With that in mind what is next for Sean Lennox?
At this present moment in time, there are no big plans outside of Alpha. I am going to spend the next few years building it up to the level I know it can achieve.
I have no doubt in my mind that more ideas will pop up along the way, when they do, I will act on them accordingly, however, I don’t like to spread myself too thin.
At this present moment in time just keep an eye on Alpha’s progress.
Thanks for catching up Sean and congratulations on the business so far!
